Biography

London College of Fashion

I am a senior lecturer here at Kingston University and also an art director.

I approach my subject area very much from the perspective of a fine artist, as well as an idealist. I am a problem-solver by nature, driven by ideas and conceptual thinking.

My previous experience includes at institutions such as Camberwell College of Arts, the Royal College of Art, Lowe Howard-Spink, Hedger Mitchell Starke and Saatchi & Saatchi. I have additionally lectured at London College of Communication, Buckinghamshire New University and Central St Martins.

Research

GOG. (Guild Of Godfathers)

The Guild Of Godfathers is a pioneering scheme where eligible 1st year students are given a 'godfather', an allumni from Kingston working within one of the many disciplines in the professional world.

The GOGS act as a conduit between student experience and industry experience. They provide advice on portfolio work, and give shadowing opportunities to 1st years during the vacation between the 1st and 2nd year. This can often become a placement opportunity for the more able student whose skills are advanced enough to produce professional standard work.

The link between GOGS and their Godchildren has, in the past, proved the catalyst in a student being offered a full time job on leaving college.

I am in the process of photographing all the GOGs, (65 at the present moment) in their place of work, as well as recording the interviews, conducted during shooting.

Ongoing project.
