The George Washington University
Yoshie Tomozumi Nakamura is an Assistant Professor of Human and Organizational Learning at the George Washington University. Her areas of research interest include authentic leadership development, neuroscience of adult learning, women in leadership, and online learning engagement through data analytics. Dr. Nakamura is currently studying adult learners’ mind, brain and behavior focusing reflective practices, leadership values development, women’s leadership development, and online learning engagement and outcomes.
Dr. Nakamura has published in a wide range of topics, including social networks among leaders, Japanese women’s leadership, and leadership values development. One of her publications, “The Role of Reflective Practices in Building Social Capital in Organizations from an HRD perspective” received an outstanding award by Academy of Human Resource Development. She is currently working as a lead editor of Japanese Women in Leadership book as part of Asian Women in Leadership book series.
Prior to joining the faculty of George Washington University, she served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University whereby she taught Facilitate Adults Learn with Neuroscience in Mind. She also worked as Head of Academic Learning and Neuroscience at Columbia Business School’s Executive Education department whereby she directed Neuroscience to Enhance Leadership Development program and Future of Learning Forum as well as taught Women in Leadership program. She provided executive coaching for leaders across industries and countries as well.
