Dr. Yanghee Kim has been committed to promoting women’s status and gender equality throughout her
professional career. Yanghee, trained in Applied Social Psychology at Loyola University Chicago(1986), has been
fascinated by applying theories and methodologies of social psychology to various social issues such as gender,
leadership, media and environment. For 19 years, she worked for the Korean Women’s Development
Institute(KWDI), a government-funded research institute specializing in gender policy-related research. One of
her major contributions at KWDI had to do with developing gender mainstreaming tools and having them (such
as Gender Impact Assessment and Gender Budget) institutionalized in Korea. Even before she got involved with
KWSE, she had carried out several research projects on women in the field of S&T, including
