University of Washington Bothell
Dr. Xiahua (Anny) Wei is an Associate professor of economics at the University of Washington Bothell School of Business. She is an applied econometrician in the economics of information technology (IT). Her research is motivated by technology, innovation, and competition in IT-enabled markets such as crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, user-generated content, and network industries. Her research agenda aims to illuminate the effect of public policies on market competition, the design of mechanisms, and the management of innovation and customer strategies that can improve market efficiency and enhance innovation in these markets.
In her research, she employs a variety of econometric techniques including structural modeling, Bayesian methods, and reduced form analysis as the core of her methodology. In her teaching, she designed the first econometrics class at the University of Washington, Bothell.
Her research has been published in MIS Quarterly and Production and Operations Management. She also serves as a reviewer for leading journals such as Management Science and Information Systems Research.
Dr. Wei obtained her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of California, San Diego. She also holds two Masters’ degrees in both Economics and Management Science from the University of California, Irvine, and an undergraduate degree in Economics from Fudan University.
