AREA OF EXPERTISE
Corporate Finance Economics
A quantitative monetary economist and currency expert, William was the first to systematize U.S. monetary thought into one or more complete theories of money and credit. His empirical work on the purchasing power parity theory of foreign exchange and its application to the yen/U.S. dollar exchange-ratio brought him a measure of celebrity in the field. He has experience in international economics, demography, corporate finance, asset management (equity and fixed-income analyses and portfolio management), business consulting, government and education.
CURRENT POSITION
William is a special situations analyst at Schafer Cullen Capital Management, Inc., an asset management firm in Manhattan. He also serves an adjunct professor in the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in economics and finance at night. He is an advisor to one of Canada's leading oil and gas energy trusts.
PAST POSITIONS
William was chief economist of the Treasury of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As the number two man in the investment division, he managed an operations staff of more than 40 people, supervised its trading desk, assisted in establishing its securities lending area and grew assets under management. He has advised foreign governments and businesses, providing practical advice and analyses in the area of currency risk management.
