Biography
Guanghua School of Management
Wanchuan Lin is a Professor of Economics at the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. She received her Ph.D. from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in year 2007. Her research interests include Labor Economics and Health Economics. Currently, she is interested in social determinants of child health, and in the relationship between socioeconomic status and health.
There are two strands of her research. The current focuses on the determinants of health for low-income children. One strand of her research focuses on the extent to which insults to health and activity limitations are responsible for poor health for children in low-income families. Second, she also investigates the effects of expanding public health insurance eligibility for older children. Her recent work in Journal of Health Economics find some evidence that Medicaid eligibility in early childhood has positive effects on future health. This may indicate that adequate medical care early on puts children on a better health trajectory, resulting in better health as they grow.
