Biography

Dr. Vivek Pandey is an Associate Professor (Economics) at the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) and also heads the Verghese Kurien Policy Lab (VKPL). He has a doctoral degree in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University. His research focuses on understanding the response of economic agents to development policies and interventions. His ongoing research efforts are focused on assessing the welfare impacts of aligning poor households (especially women) with markets that can offer monopolistic returns. These have the potential to alter intra-household bargaining processes and other downstream outcomes for poor households. He is also interested in investigating the role of women in the promotion of green governance and its subsequent impact on the village economy and growth. At IRMA, he teaches Microeconomics, Econometric Methods for Program Evaluation and Field Experiments. He has extensive experience in raising research grants and consulting on themes related to Impact Evaluation, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Applied Econometrics, and Development Economics.
