Valentin Jeutner

Research

I engage mainly in foundational research related to the nature and fundamental principles of (international) law. This includes exploring the relations between law and related fields like the natural sciences, art, philosophy, or theology.

Teaching

My teaching activities relate mostly to general Public International Law and the Theory of International Law. I also teach and have taught courses on Law & Technology, European Union Law, International Energy Law, English Contract Law, English Criminal Law and Legal Philosophy.

Outreach

In order to make the arguments of my book on dilemmas more accessible, I produced the short film 'Aporia'. The film is accessbile on Youtube. A more academic lecture about the topic of my book is available here.

Alongside my research and teaching activities, I serve on the academic review board of the Cambridge International Law Journal and I am one of the book review editors of the Nordic Journal of International Law.

In 2019, I was secconded to the Merkel Administration and served as an advisor in Directorate-General 6 (Political Planning, Innovation and Digital Policy, Strategic IT Management) of the Federal Chancellery in Berlin.
