Background

Vahid is a Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at the Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management Group at Cranfield School of Management. He is the Deputy Director of the Agile Supply Chain Research Club (ASCRC). Furthermore, he is the Deputy Director of the Cranfield-Michigan Supply Chain Strategy Workshop. 

Vahid has worked as a researcher on several national and European research projects in the areas of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, including:

  • ''Intelligent Industrial Goods and ERP Systems'', funded by Swedish Transport Administration (2008-2010).
  • ''Step Change in Agri-foods Logistics Ecosystems (SCALE)'', part funded by INTERREG IVB North West Europe, EU (2013-2015).

He has received his PhD (2013), Licentiate (2010), and MSc (2008) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. 

Vahid is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Also, he is a Chartered Member of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT). 

 

Current activities

Vahid is active in research, teaching, supervision and consulting.

His main research themes are ''Inter-Organisational Collaboration'', ''Information Systems (specifically advanced methods for tracking and tracing)'', ''Food Supply Chains'' and ''Sustainability''. Vahid has written four book chapters and his researches are published in a number of academic and industrial journals of Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Operations Management including the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management (IJPDLM), the International Journal of Logistics Management (IJLM) and the Logistics and Transport Focus. Vahid is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the IJPDLM and he is member of review boards of several leading journals of the Logistics, Supply Chain and Operations Management fields. 

The research projects that he is currently leading or researching on are: 

  • ''Co-opetition in UK Logistics Industry'', funded by Cranfield University School of Management. 
  • ''GS1 Standards for Managing the Cost-to-Serve in Apparel Supply Chains'', funded by GS1 UK. 
  • ''Intelligent Excavation'', funded by Highways England

He has been invited by universities and international conferences for speaking and for organising and chairing workshops about his areas of expertise (e.g. at POMS conference).  

The modules that Vahid is leading at Cranfield School of Management are: 

  • ''Information Systems and eBusiness'', on the Full-Time MSc programmes in Logistics and Supply Chain Management; and Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
  • ''Business Process Outsourcing'', ​on the Full-Time MSc programmes in Logistics and Supply Chain Management; and Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
  • ''Supply Chain Management'', on MSc programme in Management. 

Vahid is graded as an experienced PhD supervisor in Cranfield''s listing. He mentors several full-time and executive MSc students every year.
