Biography

I am a postdoc at the Wilcove Lab, studying the distribution and population dynamics of Himalayan birds on the one hand, and the expansion of oil palm in India on the other. In 2014, I wangled a PhD from the National Centre for Biological Sciences (Bangalore, India), where I studied how logging in the eastern Himalayas affects the population dynamics of birds -- this, I still do. Luckily, that means that a fair part of my year is spent ringing birds in the field. In a past life, I trained for six years to become a General Practioner (in Medicine/Surgery).

Important note: I''m usually paid in smoked pork and/or rice wine when I consult as a doctor in remote villages in India''s northeast.
