Bio
Dr. Ulrike Schultze is an associate professor in information technology and operations management (ITOM) at the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Cox School of Business. She also has a visiting appointment at Lund University, Sweden. Her research explores the impact of information technology on work practices. She has studied the work practice implications of knowledge management technology and of Internet-based self-service technology. Most recently, she has been focusing on the implications of social media technologies, specifically the virtual world Second Life, for identity work. Dr. Schultze frequently relies on multi-method research designs, which include ethnographic observations, interviews, and surveys. Her research has been published in leading information systems journals, including Information Systems ## Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly, European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology, and Information and Organization. She has served on the editorial boards of those journals, and is currently a senior editor at Journal of the Association of Information Systems. Additionally, Dr. Schultze has taken on significant leadership roles in Academy of Management - Organizational Communication Information Systems (AoM-OCIS), International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 8.2, European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) 2014, and International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) 2015.
During her tenure at SMU, Dr. Schultze has taught a variety of classes in the BBA, MBA, MSA and MSBA programs. Her course offerings range from technical topics such as business process improvement, to strategic issues like implementing models for digitalization. Dr. Schultze holds a bachelor''s and a master''s degree in information systems from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. She earned her PhD in management, with a concentration in information systems, from Case Western Reserve University.
