Tracie is a lecturer in Criminology at Arden University and has also taught at Chester University and also as a sessional lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University.

As a parent of a child with Autism who was diagnosed in 2008, Tracie found it extremely difficult to find the right support for her son. This combined with a very long waiting time to receive a diagnosis inspired her to make this the topic of her PhD.
