Leonard N. Stern School of Business
Tommaso M. Albanese joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Adjunct Professor of Finance in 2007. He teaches courses in international capital markets and infrastructure finance. Professor Albanese also teaches at the City University of London Cass Business School.
Professor Albanese is a Managing Director in Infrastructure and Private Equity at UBS Global Asset Management since 2013. Based in London, he has established the infrastructure debt platform business. He manages the platform activities, leads the capital raising effort and chairs the investment committee. He joined UBS in 2010 as Vice Chairman of Global Capital Market in Investment Banking where he lead several strategic initiatives including the development of the structured debt and infrastructure finance businesses resulting in the completion of several significant transactions.
Prior to that, Professor Albanese was Managing Director and European Co-Head of the Global Capital Market division of Morgan Stanley & Co. He was a Member of the Global Capital Markets Operating Committee, the Interest Rate and Currency Global Operating Committee, the Investment Banking European Operating Committee and the Fixed Income European Operating Committee. He has an extensive experience in international capital markets, in particular in debt management, derivatives and infrastructure financing for major European governments and corporates.
Among other responsibilities at Morgan Stanley, Professor Albanese was the Global Head of the Corporate Derivatives Group (across London, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong), Co-Head of Global Debt Products, European Head of Corporate and Sovereign Debt Origination, European Head of the Tax Product Group and European Head of Interest Rate Derivatives Structuring. Professor Albanese joined Morgan Stanley in 1991 and was made Managing Director in 1998. He had initially worked in debt and derivatives structuring at Credit Suisse First Boston.
Professor Albanese graduated in Economics at Bocconi University (cum laude), received his M.B.A. in Finance at NYU Stern (completed in 18 months) and was Visiting Scholar in the Finance Faculty of MIT's Sloan School of Management. His graduate studies were fully financed by the "Jona" award for innovative work in option pricing. He was for a few years a Lecturer in International Monetary and Financial Economics at Bocconi University, producing several academic publications.
