Hertie School of Governance
Tobias Wiß is a fellow at the Hertie School of Governance. He is Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Political Science at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria). Prior to joining JKU, he held postdoctoral appointments at the Hertie School of Governance, the Johannes Kepler University and the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). He was also visiting scholar at the University of Southampton, the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) Vienna and the University of Warwick. Tobias Wiß received his Ph.D. from the University of Mannheim. His research areas include comparative welfare state analysis, comparative political economy, social policy (in particular pensions and family policy), occupational welfare as well as industrial relations. As a former member of the project “State, Risk and Society” (STARS) at the Hertie School, he still analyses pension privatisation and pension reforms as response to the financial crisis.
