Tim Westall

Business experience

Tim Westall is an experienced business consultant with more than 25 years in advising leading organisations on strategy, marketing, innovation and change management. Tim began his career in international brand management and marketing with Unilever in the UK and France, followed by ten years in the growth and successful sale of New Solutions, a strategic marketing consultancy. Since 2004, Tim founded and is now Managing Partner of April Strategy, a boutique management consultancy of 20 people, working across the globe on strategy and change management challenges. As a member of, and advisor to, the IoD, he helped design and also experienced the benefits of what the IoD offers. The first benefit is the membership base; a network of like-minded but diverse individuals with whom one can share ideas and create new connections. The second benefit is the quality of professional development, helping directors to be more successful by providing essential knowledge, know-how and practical guidance.

Tim has spent more than 20 years advising CEOs and leadership teams on strategy, marketing, innovation and change management. While new to the IoD as a course leader, he has run hundreds of workshops and development programmes, taking the latest thinking from one industry and exploring and applying it in others. During the course of his career, Tim has worked with organisations across the private, public and third sectors, both in the UK and internationally. Industries covered include consumer goods, financial services, education, automotive and healthcare. Client organisations have included Allen & Overy, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Mars, Dairy Crest, Nestle, Royal Caribbean Cruises, PwC, Deloitte, IoD, Barclays, Citibank, MetLife, AIA, the Girls’ Day School Trust, Cambridge University, NHS, Kia and Volkswagen.
