Focus areas: Political economy, public economics, industrial organization, and applied microeconomics

Thomas Groll teaches the core course Economic Analysis for International and Public Affairs. His main academic interests relate to topics in public economics, industrial organization, political economics, and applied microeconomics.

His current research focuses on commercial lobbying activities, the development of political institutions, and political competition.

Thomas Groll received his PhD in economics from the University of Oregon in 2012. He also holds a Diplom/MSc in economics (2008) from the University of Konstanz, Germany and a MSc in economics (2006) from the University of Oregon. He participated in several internships at institutions in the German federal government (KfW, BMWi) and at a federal real estate association (IVD).
