Biography
KTH Executive School
Thomas Ahrens is the founder of the growth list and the concept of growth company in Sweden. He educates Sweden on how to create more growth.
After researching fast-growing companies at Lund University, Thomas started a consulting business and an educational activity. Activities that he has sold after some successful years to be able to focus on what he likes best - to get himself working with fast growth.
Thomas Ahrens was to write a thesis on seven fast-growing companies. He researched fast-growing companies at Lund University in 1985 - 87. There was no dissertation, since Thomas is more a practitioner than academics. It became a book instead, then a consulting business, an educational activity and over the years seven books to. The results he came to through his research are today the basis for Ahrens tools and methodology. He is the founder of the growth concept used by hundreds of fast-growing companies and copied by many consulting companies. It is also Thomas Ahrens who is behind the Growth List, which ranks fast-growing companies all over Sweden. It probably goes without saying that Thomas Ahrens is the person who worked most with the concept growth company in Sweden.
Today, he has sold the consulting and training activities to devote himself to what he likes best - to work with fast growth himself. He runs the company Ahrens Invest, which educates boards and management in the art of growing fast and investing in fast-growing companies in combination with coaching the management. With eight CEO and board networks, he has continuous contact with Sweden's fast growth. It gives inspiration to Thomas's "hobby" - to write books about fast-growing companies. Quick Growth Drivers, Rebel Leader, Two-Time Winner, Time Monopoly, Dare Growth, etc. are now joined by two new books on their way out: One on board work in fast-growing companies and one on founding profiles for fast-growing "Despot's return".
Thomas Ahrens is a small girl to the burden and raised with Ikea. Most important of all, he says, half in joke, half seriously. He started working as a regular consultant but got tired of the consulting tradition of writing reports.
After a report, nothing happens. Then I started researching for two years and studied a number of fast-growing companies. The reason was that I had worked with a couple of such companies that did not like consultants.
Thomas Ahrens, on the other hand, liked the approach of fast-growing companies, that "we either do this or not". It is a way of life, almost a religion. If we had more people thinking, Sweden would be even better at international, says Thomas Ahrens. So nowadays Thomas works to spread the "religion"
