Terence Tsai

Terence Tsai is Associate Professor of Strategy and International Business at China Europe International Business School and a PhD Supervisor at Shanghai Jiaotong University in China. He has also served as a Visiting Professor of Management at National Taiwan University, Chang Gung University and Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan. Prior to joining CEIBS, he served as Acting Associate Dean (Graduate Studies), Director of Centre for Case Teaching and Research and Acting Director & Associate Director of MBA Programmes at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Tsai was also a full-time faculty member of Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in Canada and Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge in England.

Dr. Tsai's research interests include multinational corporations, sustainability strategy, environmental management, organisational theory (environmental adaptive theories) and Chinese management. His scholarly work has appeared in the Journal of General Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, International Studies of Management and Organisation, Journal of Management Studies, Organisation Studies, Business Strategy and the Environment, Asia Case Research Journal, Case Journal of Dalian University of Science and Technology, the Globe and Mail, Harvard China Review, and the Sun Yat-Sen Management Review. Dr. Tsai served as Asia Pacific Management Area Editor, Industry Management Forum, and is on the editorial board of Business Strategy and the Environment and Case Journal of Dalian University of Technology. Dr. Tsai has also been an invited speaker at various international management conferences and serves as an advisor and committee member of the United Nations Environmental Programme, the Academy of Management, the Greening of Industry Network, and the Republic of China Strategic Alliance Society.

Dr. Tsai is an Independent Director of Jinshan Corporation (Phoenix Bicycle), Senior Consultant to the International Business Ethics Institute, as well as Senior Consultant, Industry Technology Research Institute. He was a full-time consultant at the General Electric Company, CH2M HILL Inc., Melzer Management Consulting (Germany) and has acted as an advisor to the National Environmental Protection Agency of China, Environmental Protection Administration of Taiwan, and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. His past consulting clients include organisations such as Gucci, Merck/MSD, Pepsi Cola, Dow Chemicals, Du Pont, ICI, Hoest, Exxon, Acer, Landsea Group, Philips, SEQUA and UMC.

Dr. Tsai has won the Excellence in Teaching Award at China Europe International Business School, Faculty Outstanding Teacher Award and Dean’s Excellent Teaching Awards for all the courses he has taught at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has also been conferred with the EFMD Best Case Award, oikos International Case Writing Competition Runner-up Prize, and Best Selling Cases at Richard Ivey Business School of University of Western Ontario.
