Susannah Friedman has managed humanitarian operations for the last ten years, working with international NGOs to prepare for and respond to natural disasters and complex emergencies. She currently works for CARE USA as Manager for Emergency Preparedness and Risk Reduction. Prior to her current role, Susannah worked advising on and managing humanitarian operations in multiple contexts including across the Asia / Pacific region, Somalia, and Sudan. She has a particular interest and expertise in humanitarian operations in fragile states and  complex conflict environments. Susannah is Faculty Coordinator for SIPA’s Humanitarian Policy Focus area; she also teaches a course on the management of humanitarian emergencies. Susannah holds a Master of International Affairs in International Security Policy from Columbia University and Bachelor of Arts in History from University of Michigan.
