Sumedha Rajakaruna

Biography

Sumedha Rajakaruna (M’93–SM'xx) received the B.Sc.Eng. degree from the University of Moratuwa, Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 1989, the M.Sc. degree from the University of Calgary, Calgary, AB, Canada, in 1989, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada, in 1993. In 1986, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, as an Assistant Lecturer. Upon the completion of post-graduate studies, he served the same department as a Senior Lecturer from 1993 to 1999. After a period of one year in the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Toronto, as a Visiting Professor, he joined the Power Engineering Division, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in October 2000 as an Assistant Professor. He is currently a Senior Lecturer with Curtin University, Perth, Australia His current research interests include distributed generation, new energy storage techniques, and induction generators. He is a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and a Chartered Engineer.
