Research Statement
Stuart L. Klein has been actively involved since 1993 with the Investment Management courses and with case development at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. He has co-authored (with Professor Jack McDonald) several cases and teaching notes on Valuation, Entrepreneurial Finance, and Private Equity. Stuart recently researched re-sales of restricted stock in private companies and re-sales of venture capital limited partnership interests. He is passionate about investing, teaching, and working with students.
Bio
Mr. Klein is the founder and general partner of an investment partnership that invests in hedge funds. He has personally and professionally invested in hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, real estate, and public and private companies for more than thirty years.
Mr. Klein is also active in a number of local charities. Previously he served as Co-Chairman of the Board of the Moldaw Residences, a 200-unit senior living facility in Palo Alto. He also serves as a Director of the Taube-Koret Campus for Jewish Life, where he chaired the Site Committee that initially acquired the 8-acre Campus site. Recently he served on the Hillview Community Center Project Task Force in Los Altos.
Mr. Klein graduated in 1977 from Brown University magna cum laude and earned an MSc at the London School of Economics where he was a Keasbey Scholar. After studying Chinese language and history at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he attended Stanford University and graduated with law and business degrees in 1983. Stuart practiced corporate law at Cooley LLP and then co-founded SuperMac Technology, a public company that provided graphics sub-systems for Apple’s Macintosh computer.
