Steve Altman is a Senior Research Associate and Lecturer in IESE Business School''s Strategic Management department, where he focuses on international strategy and emerging markets. He holds an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School, an MPA from Harvard''s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a B.S. in Economics summa cum laude from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Altman works closely with Professor Pankaj Ghemawat on a body of research focused on understanding the patterns of international flows of goods and services, capital, information, and people, how cross-country differences and distances shape those flows, and their implications for business strategy and public policy. He has managed the development of a variety of teaching and decision-making tools based on that research, and recently co-authored a detailed country-by-country examination of international flows, the 2011 DHL Global Connectedness Index.
Prior to joining IESE, Mr. Altman worked as a strategy consultant. He began his career at Booz Allen Hamilton (now Booz & Company) and later managed a boutique consultancy focused on international strategy and business development in emerging markets.
