Stephanie Knouse

Biography

Born and raised in Maryland, Dr. Knouse began learning Spanish at the age of 15. She began developing a love of the language and cultures, which grew exponentially after studying abroad in Granada, Spain in 1999. Since then, Dr. Knouse has lived in Madrid and Salamanca, Spain and has visited the country on numerous occasions. She studied at Middlebury College's Spanish School and the University of Florida to hone her expertise in the language itself as well as her knowledge of Hispanic Linguistics. Dr. Knouse has taught Spanish in both secondary and post-secondary environments for nearly 20 years and she is motivated to instill a deep appreciation of languages and cultures in her students at Furman through community-based learning, social justice education, and study abroad.
