Biography

The London School of Economics and Political Science

I am an associate professor in political science in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I am the Political Science and Political Economy programme director. I am the Associate Editor for Formal Theory at PSRM, The Journal of the European Political Association and the Associate Editor for Political Economy at the new open access Oxford Open Economics. I received my Ph.D in economics from the University of Chicago in June 2014.

I use formal theory and quantitative methods to study political accountability and democratic responsiveness, discrimination in its various forms, and institutional changes. I am also interested in the Theoretical Implications of the Empirical Models (or TIEM) to use a term coined by Pablo Montagnes and Scott Tyson.

I teach political economy in the department of economics and the department of government at the LSE. Starting mid-July 2021, I’m delighted to feature as a Course Convenor of Understanding Discrimination, the first 3-week online masterclass from LSE.
