SDA Bocconi School of Management
Silvia Rota is an Associate Professor of Practice in Government, Health and Not for Profit at SDA Bocconi School of Management.
At SDA Bocconi, Silvia is the Director of the Executive Master in Management of Public Administrations (EMMAP) and Program Director of two post experience specialization courses (MAP - Management for Public Administration and MAP advanced – Advanced Management for Public Administrations). She has conducted many research, education and consulting projects with various public institutions. In particular, the projects in which she is involved concern the development of public management skills and innovation in managerial practices, and changes in performance management and accounting systems.
Her research activities focus on the processes of budgeting, reporting and performance management in the public sector: accounting systems, use of performance measurement and evaluation systems in decision making processes; impacts of recent reforms on public organizations. She has presented these issues especially in local governments, central public administrations (ministries and agencies) and, more recently, in regions and health agencies.
Her works have been published in national and international journals such as Azienda Pubblica, International Review of Administrative Sciences, Critical Perspectives on Accounting and in SDA Bocconi’s research observatories such as OCAP and OASI. She participates in national and international networks such as the Academy of Management (AOM), the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM), the International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM), the Comparative International Government Accounting Research Network (CIGAR).
Silvia earned an MSc in Economics and Management of Public Administrations and International Institutions from Università Bocconi and a Ph.D. in Strategic Marketing and Business Administration from the Università degli Studi di Bergamo. She is married with one child and she practices motorsports.
