Silvana Dushku, Ph.D. is the Director of the Community Language Program and TESOL Certificate Program at Teachers College, a position she has been holding since July 2017. Previously, she worked as English language faculty and teacher trainer in Europe for 8 years. She holds an M.A. degree in TESL, and a Ph.D. in Education/SLATE with specialization in program development and evaluation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). For 35 years, she has been involved in English language teaching at all levels, IEP administration, curriculum design, program development and evaluation, as well as teacher training. Specifically, she worked as Assistant Director at the UIUC Intensive English Institute (IIE) for 10 years and led the IIE curriculum development, program recruitment and promotion campaigns, faculty and staff training and evaluation, as well as new hybrid course and program development and instruction for international students, UIUC scholars and researchers. As current Director of the Community Language Program and TESOL Certificate Program at Teachers College, Silvana provides academic and administrative leadership, and monitors and oversees the CLP/TCP budget, hiring and payroll, student recruitment and marketing, and the day-to-day administrative operations of the two programs. Also, she has a strong interest in teaching and researching vocabulary and spoken discourse, teacher professionalization, applied corpus linguistics, and blended learning. She has published on various aspects of language program development and evaluation, as well as on conversation management in journals including TESOL Quarterly, System, World Englishes, Classroom Discourse, and others. Recently, she successfully completed the 10-week, Columbia University Management and Development Program (CUMDP). She has been currently engaged in developing and managing new hybrid and online programs such as the International Researchers Language Program (IRLP) and the new Language Program Management (LPM) Certificate Program.
