Shikun Zhu

Co-Founder at end of S.T.A.Y. Automotive Studio / Lecturer

Biography

This is Shikun Zhu (Philip Zhu) from China, born in 1991. I have worked as a designer for 2 years and currently I am pursuing my master degree at Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD), Master in Design Studies and major in Art, Design and Public Domain.

I have always thought that the precious memory in life doesn`t necessarily require picture as reminder until the summer of 2010, I bought my first camera. Since then I started to discover the joy and importance of photography. I always try to capture the extraordinary, memorable and beautiful scene in life, but what is extraordinary, memorable or beautiful in the first place? Sometimes I press the shutter without any hesitation, yet the view is not even close to any of the adjective above, why would I do that? All the photos I took, how does it reflect my thought of "scene"? Knowing the photos I took, how do you know about me? Photography, thus, is not only the container of memory, expression of beauty in my eyes, more importantly, also "the inner status, intelligence, desire and fear of mine." It is a silent power.
