Sharon Mozgai

Biography

Sharon Mozgai is the Associate Director of MedicalVR at the University of Southern California’s Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT). Her research is centered on human computer interaction with a focus on engagement and motivation.

She also studies the organizational processes of interdisciplinary teams working on healthcare technology in order to optimize the design of digital therapeutics developed at ICT. Sharon’s work is motivated by the belief that technology can help to bridge the gap between quality healthcare and underserved populations.

Sharon completed her graduate studies at Harvard University with a master’s degree in Human Development and Psychology. She currently leads MedVR’s R&D effort at ICT on a variety of projects including BRAVEMIND, a clinical, interactive, Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) tool used to assess and treat post-traumatic stress in service members. Sharon has worked at a range of organizations, conducting research at the San Francisco VA Medical Center (Telehealth), MIT (Computational Linguistics), and Harvard Business School (Organizational Behavior).

She is currently designing adaptive agent-based interfaces for personalized mHealth applications that target behavior change. Sharon is a member of a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

Sharon has been a chair at multiple international conferences focused on AI. Sharon also serves as an Editor for Translational Issues in Psychological Science.
