Biography

I lead the Software Management, Maintenance, and Reliability Lab (Mamba), University of Manitoba (UM). Before joining UM, I was an assistant professor at Mississippi State University, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at SAIL at Queens University led by Prof. Ahmed E. Hassan (IEEE fellow). I obtained my Ph.D. from the School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University under the supervision of Prof. David Lo (IEEE fellow) and Prof. Lingxiao Jiang in 2015 and B.Sc. from Zhejiang University in 2010. I visited Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) as a visiting scholar in 2013.

My research focuses on: software engineering and Machine learning. My goal is to build fundamental knowledge and algorithms to help software developers retrieve and leverage big software data (e.g., code repositories, developer social media) effectively and efficiently. My research interests cover:

  • Machine learning with and for software engineering
  • AIOps & DevOps
  • Data-driven software engineering
  • Software security
  • Software debugging
  • Mining software repositories
