Sergejs Groskovs is Postdoctoral Researcher with the Department of Strategic Management and Globalization at Copenhagen Business School. His work centers on the organizational issues surrounding the digitalization of the manufacturing industry in Denmark, as part of the MADE Digital initiative.

Sergejs completed his PhD in Management at Aarhus University, which included a research stay at University of St. Gallen. The dissertation conceptualized the process of business model innovation for established firms along with its key drivers and barriers, identified three potent strategic trajectories for planning business model change, and proposed approaches to tracking changes in the business model of the firm both externally and internally. Sergejs’ education includes a master’s degree in Information Technology (Product Design) from University of Southern Denmark and a master’s degree in Management (Market Research) from University of Latvia.

Previously Sergejs had been teaching at Aarhus University and Copenhagen Business School in the capacity of external lecturer. His teaching and supervision activities covered such areas as strategy and business development, entrepreneurship, business model innovation, philosophy of science. His professional career in the industry includes more than a decade of managing research and business development projects in financial services, ICT, consulting, and manufacturing.

Sergejs’ research interests lie in the areas of strategic management, business model innovation, organizational change. He primarily uses qualitative, process-oriented methods with a pragmatic twist. In his work, Sergejs enjoys going beyond the descriptions and explanations of the past – into the design and implementation of the future through action research and design science research, together with the concerned organizations.
