Dr. Serena Sohrab holds a PhD in Organizational Behaviour with a focus on team dynamics from Schulich School of Business at York University. Her current research explores team dynamics and interaction patterns that enable groups and teams to effectively navigate the complex and fast-paced environments and respond effectively to non-routine events. In addition to this line of research, she is interested in enhancing gender equality in organizations, and studies practical solutions that contribute to the economic advancement of women. She has taught at both MBA and undergraduate levels at the Faculty of Business and Information Technology as well as the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Ontario.

  • Recipient of Award of Excellence in Teaching, Faculty of Business and IT, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, 2019.
  • Nominated for Student Choice Award, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, 2018.
  • Doctoral Fellowship, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada ($40,000), 2009.
  • Ontario Graduate Scholarship, Government of Ontario ($15,000), 2009 (recipient, but not accepted).
  • Doctoral Research Award for the Study of Women in Management, Schulich School of Business ($1,000), 2008-2009.
  • Schulich Entrance Scholarship of Merit, Schulich School of Business, awarded to a selected number of entering students based on academic excellence ($12,100), 2007.
  • Scholarship to attend Advanced VLSI Design Techniques Course, ICTP (International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Italy) ($5,000), 2002.
