Seidel Wolfgang

Biography

Wolfgang Seidel is a Finance Professor at ESCP Europe's Paris and London campuses. He has been teaching in the areas of portfolio management, hedge funds, derivatives, private equity, valuation, macroeconomics, etc. since 2007.

He holds a Ph.D. in Nanotechnology Semiconductor Physics from Paris École Normale Supérieure and German university diplomas in Physics (studied at Munich Technical University; Paris ÉNS), Business Administration (Hagen University) and Political Economy (Hagen University). 

He is frequently invited to speak at investment conferences in Europe, the US, Asia and the Middle East on topics such as macroeconomics, asset allocation and alternative assets. 

He has also been working in the area of family offices – since 2011 as CEO of a large Monaco-based family office and before, starting 2003, as Chief Investment Officer of a large Munich-based one. His investment experience covers private equity, hedge funds, real estate, equities, fixed income, commodity futures, timber and agriculture in Europe, the US, Asia and Latin America as well as the application of novel quantitative asset allocation frameworks. His prior background is private equity Fund of Funds with Adveq Management as Investment Partner and VCM as Head of Institutional Business and Marketing, where he selected the leading funds managers in buyout, growth capital, distressed, mezzanine and venture capital and set up the world’s first mezzanine FoFs program.

Prior to that, he worked as a strategy consultant and project leader with McKinsey & Company in the financial industry group, where he focussed on banks and insurance companies in the functional areas of strategy and organization.

His memberships include the American Finance Association, the European Finance Association and the Alumni der Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes.
