Biography

Sean is an Associate Professor in Global Development at the University of Bristol. He received an MSc and PhD in the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics.
Research interests
Sean’s research explores the causes and consequences of global urbanization, the political economy of urban governance, and sustainable city futures. Current research projects include modelling and simulating ‘informal urbanization’ in African cities, applying machine learning for poverty prediction in Pakistan, and generating new data to support global urban analytics. He recently completed an ESRC-funded project on Quantifying Cities for Sustainable Development.
