Research & Teaching Interests

Professor McGovern''s research interests fall within the categories of operations research, modeling & simulation, reverse logistics, industrial engineering, closed-loop supply chains, decision science, aerospace & defense and transportation industries, heuristics/metaheuristics, scheduling, and environmentally conscious manufacturing.

Industry & Academic Experience

Professor McGovern has offered his expertise in courses such as Business Statistics, Probabilistic Operations Research, Stochastic Modeling, Deterministic Operations Research, Engineering Probability and Statistics, and Logistics, Warehousing and Scheduling at Northeastern University. He also performed as a Staff Instructor Pilot for the MIT Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and as a helicopter Instructor Pilot for three U.S. and seven foreign military services. Professor McGovern has almost 30 years of experience as a project manager and engineer with the U.S. Department of Transportation and Department of Defense and as a Naval officer.
