Assistant Professor of Pathology, Harvard Medical School · Associate Pathologist, Brigham and Women’s Hospital

Clinical Practice: Attending pathologist on Hematopathology and Molecular Diagnostic Pathology services. Expertise in diagnostic interpretation of blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes, flow cytometry, hemoglobin electrophoresis, and molecular diagnostics including assay development and validation. Responsibilities include clinical education of medical students, residents and fellows. Board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Hematopathology by American Board of Pathology.

Research/Investigation: Research interests include the role of coinhibitory pathways in hematologic malignancy, and the development of novel diagnostics related to hematologic malignancy and immuno-oncology. Postdoctoral studies in the laboratory of Arlene Sharpe at Harvard Medical School, studying the role of the PD-1 pathway in regulating immunometabolism, immunosenescence, and autoimmunity. National Multiple Sclerosis Society Postdoctoral Fellow (2011-2014).

Education/Curriculum Development: Responsible for integration of pathology education throughout redesigned preclinical curriculum (Pathways) at Harvard Medical School. Course Director, Pathology of Human Disease (survey course in pathology for students in biomedical science PhD programs). Course Co-Director, Foundations (primary responsibility for histology and pathology; jointly responsible for cancer biology). Course Core Faculty, Homeostasis I (hematology and cardiovascular and pulmonary pathophysiology). Harvard Medical School Academy Medical Education Fellow, 2016-2017.

Mentorship/Advising: Premedical advisor to undergraduate students at Harvard College responsible for writing composite letters of recommendation (2010-present). Senior Fellow, Oliver Wendell Holmes Society, Harvard Medical School (2010-present); provide career and residency/fellowship application advice to medical students.
