Biography

I came to the History division at the University of Manchester in 2011 as Research Associate on the ESRC-funded project ''Charitable Consumption: Innovation in compassion in Britain, 1870-1912''. Prior to this I completed a Ph.D and an MA in modern Irish History at Queen''s University Belfast.

In October 2013 I took up a 3-year Hallsworth Research Fellowship, also at Manchester, before being appointed Lecturer in Modern Irish History in 2014.

In 2015 I was awarded a ''Future Research Leaders'' grant (2016-18) by the Economic and Social Research Council for a project investigating Irish Catholic fundraising, 1850-1921.
