Harvard Medical School
Dr. Flier is a gastroenterologist at the Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BMC), where she also serves as the Director of Quality Assurance in the Division of Gastroenterology and Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program. Her research interests span a variety of topics including the role of dietary antigens on the development of colitis, quality improvement in GI care and transition of IBD care from pediatric to adult providers in collaboration with her colleagues at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Flier also serves as an Assistant Professor at the Harvard Medical School. In 2018, she was awarded the J. Thomas Lamont Award from the GI Division at BIDMC in honor of her excellence in mentoring and educating young professionals, treating her patients and innovative research insights.
In addition to her professional success, Dr. Flier has also played a large role in the Foundation's New England Chapter, where she is currently the chair for the Chapter Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC). In past years she has acted as a co-chair of the Patient Education Subcommittee, where she helped plan the 2019 Patient Education Symposium and 2020 New England Education Day. Throughout her time as a CMAC member, Dr. Flier has presented at multiple patient and professional education programs acting as a guiding example of exemplary dedication to the IBD community. Dr. Flier was honored in 2019 for her commitment to our Chapter's Take Steps Event, where she serves as the captain of the BIDMC Deep Remissions team at the Greater Boston Take Steps.
Her unwavering passion to the field of IBD, her patients and the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is unmatched in New England and has once again brought her into the Chapter's spotlight! We are elated and honored to recognize Dr. Flier as a rising healthcare leader in the New England IBD community and advocate for the 3.1+ million Americans living with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
