Biography
Samuel Preston has over 30 years of experience in financial services both as a general business manager and an operations and IT manager in the United States and in Europe. He spent over 20 years at Chase Manhattan where he was Business Manager for Domestic Custody, Installment Lending, and Collections. He also was product manager for Chase's treasury, division executive for retail branches and managed cash management and funds transfer operations. He also worked for Salomon Brothers where he was a Project Manager.
He lived in The Netherlands where he was Managing Director for Global Capital Markets and Treasury Operations as well as head of European Branch Operations for Rabobank. He also was advisor to the Managing Board of NIB Capital Bank located in The Hague. He is an expert on funds transfer settlement practices and wrote the rules for U.S." Canadian settlement practices, the U.S. settlement practices and chaired the ABA Committee on Standard Settlement Practices which developed the first common settlement rules for the U.S. He authored articles on settlement practices, operational risks and Same Day Settlement. He has lectured at New York University, American Bankers Association, Bank Administration Institute, Bank Cost Accounting Association, International Financial Services Association and Council on International Banking on subjects such as Operational Risk, Settlement Practices, Operational Quality Control, Cost Accounting in Securities Operations, and Change Management.
He graduated from Washington and Lee University with a B.A. in Economics and from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with an M.B.A. He also received a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Business Ethics at NYU Stern.
