Aalto University School of Business
Sampsa is Associate professor in co-design at the Aalto School of, Art, Design and Architecture. Sampsa’s research and teaching focus on codesign, user involvement in innovation and the co-evolution of technologies, practices and organizations. He received his Ph.d in Behavioral Sciences in the University of Helsinki and holds a Docentship in information systems, specialising in user-centered design. Sampsa was awarded Academy of Finland 2010 price for Social Impact of Research, and EASST Freeman Award 2016. He leads INUSE research group in department of design, the group has members also from Aalto BIZ and ENG. Sampsa has published over 40 peer reviewed articles (jufo ranked), 10 refereed book chapters and 5 books, out of which the two most important are “The new production of users: Changing innovation communities and involvement strategies” (with Elgaard Jensen and Oudshoorn, Routledge, 2016) and “Health Technology development and use: From practice-bound imagination to evolving impacts” (Routledge, 2010, New York). He has also written Käyttäjä tuotekehityksessä—Tieto, tutkimus, menetelmät. (Taideteollinen korkeakoulu, 2009, Helsinki, First edition "käyttäjätieto" 2006, Edita). (User in product development—Knowledge, research, methods), which is the most cited Finnish language human centred design handbook.
