Biography
Saki Bigio is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics of UCLA. His work is focused on the theoretical and quantitative nexus between financial-market liquidity, credit, payment systems and the macro economy. Bigio is currently on leave as a Research Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco
Prior to UCLA, he was an Assistant Professor at Columbia Business School.
Bigio was born in Lima, Peru. The family name Bigio is Jewish and originates from Livorno, Italy. Before migrating to Peru in the early 1920s, the Bigio family was based in Aleppo, Syria. Saki (also spelled Zaki) is a common Arab name.
