Ryan Short is Partner at Genesis Analytics, where he is Head of the Shared Value practice. Genesis Analytics is the largest economics-based consultancy in Africa.

Ryan is a management consultant advising clients in Africa at the intersection of business, government and society. He works with executives to measure and better articulate the socio-economic value of their company and investments; to design and implement strategies of shared value; to respond strategically to public policy and regulatory pressures; and to build partnerships and manage dialogue with important groups.

Ryan has advised leading companies in these areas including Anglo American, Standard Bank, De Beers, AngloGold Ashanti, Liberty Holdings, Momentum, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, and Emirates Airlines. His public sector clients include the IFC, OECD, National Treasury, Department of Trade and Industry, UK Government, and the Commonwealth.

Ryan holds a BCom in Economics and a LLB from University of KwaZulu-Natal, and a MSc in International Politics (cum laude) from the University of Edinburgh. He is the only Africa-based accredited affiliate consultant of the Shared Value Initiative. Ryan is a lawyer and solicitor and before joining Genesis was legal counsel at JP Morgan.

Ryan is a visiting MBA lecturer at the Gordon Institute of Business Science on the future environment of business, and public policy for business.
