Alberta School of Business

Ryan is a senior planner with community planning at the City of Calgary, and sits on the City's Indigenous Relations Coordinating Committee. He is the team lead and project manager for the Beltline ARP Amendment project which created the policy plan and implementation tools for the culture and entertainment district in East Victoria Park and Stampede Park (also known as the Rivers District Plan). This plan provides the policy and tools for the BMO conference centre expansion and new events centre (arena).

He was also a project team member for the Chinatown Area Redevelopment Plan scoping project, and has worked on the Calgary Main Streets project team to help plan and design 24 of Calgary's main streets.

He helped create some of Calgary’s first Transit Oriented Development (TOD) policy, and local area redevelopment plans supporting TOD. His areas of specialty include: indigenous engagement, project management, urban design, policy research and writing, development application review, and public engagement.

He also developed innovative and creative public engagement workshops that are easy to understand, and fun. This includes the Transit Oriented Development Lego event series, and several similar model building workshops designed to help communities understand how their community can change over time, while being sensitive to context.

He enjoys making music in his spare time, and is a board member for the Oscill8 Collective who are a non profit electronic music performing arts society
