Rodrigo Lobo
Faculty Member at Montana State University Billings, College of Business
Biography
Dr. Rodrigo Cortopassi Goron Lobo, Assistant Professor of Business, has authored the chapter “Eco-Innovation in a Textile Industry,” which appears in the book Knowledge and Innovation Management, recently published by Poisson Publishing in Brazil.
In the chapter, Dr. Lobo illustrates how “eco-innovations are technology intensive innovations towards sustainability and can bring contributions to the reduction of negative impacts on the environment resulting from industrial activity. The objective of this research project was to identify eco-innovation practices in a textile industry, based on the Carrillo-Hermosilla, Gonzáles and Könnölä (2009) framework, which presents a simultaneous analysis of four dimensions of eco-innovation: design, users, product-service and governance. In general, it is observed that the company’s eco-innovation practices are more related to its business strategy, seeking to reduce costs and increase profitability, as well as to increase the company’s brand exposure.”
Dr. Lobo’s academic background includes a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Positivo University, Brazil. Prior to joining Guttman as Assistant Professor of Business in 2017, Dr. Lobo was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where his research focused on innovation management. Dr. Lobo has 30 years of corporate experience, such as executive positions at Accenture and Coastal Technologies, lately acquired by Dupont. At Guttman, Dr. Lobo teaches City Seminar in the First Year Experience and Business courses in the Business Administration Program.
Dr. Lobo recently delivered a special lecture entitled “Innovation Management and the Discontinuity of the Innovation Cycle” to graduate students and faculty at Woosong University’s Solbridge International School of Business in Daejeon, South Korea.
