Rodrigo B DeMello (Bandeira de Mello) is a Visiting Associate Professor of Strategy specialized in Latin America. He has a full-time position as Associate Professor at the Girard School of Business, Merrimack College, in Massachusetts. Rodrigo is also a visiting professor at the University of Paris Dauphine and University Lyon III, in France. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a leading business school in Latin America. Rodrigo was also a Visiting Scholar at The Wharton School and at the Political Science Department of the MIT. His research interests include the role of governments and the effects of political risks and social pressures on the competitive advantage and internationalization of firms. His paper about the political stigmatization of foreign multinationals appeared in the top 10 finalists list for the Best Paper Prize at the 2018 Strategic Management Society Meeting in Paris. His research about the relationship between business and governments has featured in major news media outlet in Brazil. Rodrigo has also experience as a consultant, and as a manager in the tech and engineering industries, as well as in the public sector as a manager in charge of public-private partnerships. During more than twenty years of continuous teaching in institutions around the world, Rodrigo has developed a teaching method based on case writing for the development of managerial capabilities that helped many instructors in Brazil.
