Robyn is currently Associate Professor of Literacy Education and Program Manager Masters of Teaching Practice in the School of Education, at RMIT, Melbourne. Robyn is immediate past President and Chairman of the Board of the Primary English Teaching Association Australia. Prior to this she was Principal Lecturer at the University of Worcester, UK and a member of the executive committee of the United Kingdom Literacy Association (UKLA).
Robyn has also held positions at four Australian Universities and at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and The University of Brunei Darussalam. Together with being program leader for Initial Teacher Education at University of Worcester, UK. Robyn has written and edited 6 books in the field of Literacies Education with a particular focus on the preparation of teachers for the teaching of early reading She is the author of many international journal articles in the field of literacy research and has been involved in teacher education in four countries over a 30 year period.
Robyn is well known for her commitment to the development of a strong professional knowledge base in initial teacher education and remains dedicated to bringing accessible educational research and theory to teacher education students. Robyn’s interest also lies in teacher professional development. Robyn has recently been appointed to expert panels and advisory groups supporting the Australian Government's on-going work in strengthening the teaching of early reading in schools.
