Executive Development Center

Roberta Gordon, better known as Bert, is the Workday project director at Brown University.

Bert joined Brown University in 1992 as director of Human Resources (HR) Operations, overseeing its employment, compensation, and HR information services functions. She was later promoted to HR director and subsequently to assistant vice president for HR and chief HR officer. Bert then moved into the central Information Technology organization to lead vendor selection for the HR/payroll replacement project. Under Bert’s direction, Brown University deployed Workday Human Capital Management and Workday Payroll in 2012, and Bert is now directing deployment of Workday Financial Management at Brown.

Prior to Brown, Bert held HR staff and management positions at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island and at a subsidiary of Colgate-Palmolive Co.

Bert earned her bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College and her master’s of business administration from Bryant University. She has participated in extensive project management, business analysis, and Six Sigma training sessions and boot camps. Bert has delivered several national presentations on systems selection, change management, and computing in the cloud.
