Rob McAdam

Rob McAdam began his security career in 1990 with the New South Wales Police Force. After eight years of active service, he moved to IBM as a program manager with a paid and volunteer team of 178 persons for the Sydney Olympics. After the Olympics in 2000, Robert transferred to IBM’s Security and Privacy Practice as the Program Manager for Penetration Testing, Managed Firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems across Asia Pacific.

In 2002, Mr McAdam started Pure Hacking, a dedicated penetration testing company. Pure Hacking specialised in conducting independent security penetration testing, positioning itself as an impartial authority in the security field.

Under Mr McAdam’s stewardship, Pure Hacking became a leading Australian security company offering a depth of knowledge and an unrivalled and singular focus on penetration testing. Pure Hacking conducts both internal and external penetration testing, application audits and provides ongoing security management for a growing number of firms. Pure Hacking’s services expanded to over 14 countries executing global agreements for Penetration Testing.

In 2007, Pure Hacking was listed in the Deloitte Fast 50, My Business top 5 out of 500 and BRW Fast Starters Top 100 with a special editorial for Innovation. Every successive year, the awards continued.

In September, 2014, Pure Hacking was sold to PS&C, a publicly listed entity on the Australian Stock Exchange. From 2014 to 2017, Mr McAdam was involved with the inner workings of PS&C and was the single largest shareholder at the time. Activities included preparing the relisting of assets on the ASX, Board engagements, mergers and acquisitions activities and operational over site of the PS&C Security Practice.

In September, 2017 Mr McAdam started CXO Security, a security consultancy dedicated to servicing the executive suite on security matters. Common tasks include assisting Boards in Cyber Security matters, incident response for breaches and security certifications for businesses for over 200 clients.
