International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans

Rick is Director of Retirement Plan Consulting at Strategies Capital Management and its affiliate, Advisory Consulting Group. Since 1988, Rick has worked as a consultant and educator to private-sector and governmental retirement plans. He offers clients a rich perspective on his continual effort to improve the design and effectiveness of defined contribution and defined benefit retirement plans. Rick’s professional contributions to the retirement plan industry include education and communications programs that produce uncommon, noticeable results, along with fostering a prudent and practical approach to investment selection, fee transparency and plan design.

In addition to leading the Retirement Plan Consulting practice, Rick is responsible for consulting to retirement plans, and developing, writing and presenting fiduciary education materials and workshops. As a former professional musician, he brings a unique approach to retirement plan consulting, due diligence and fiduciary education. By combining creativity with investment industry knowledge, he creates and delivers programs that convey complex information in an easy-to-understand format. His work has been recognized nationally by the National Association of Governmental Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA), with multiple awards, along with first place honors in the Pensions & Investments annual Investment Education “Eddy” Awards in 2000 and 2006. His programs have moved thousands of employees to make informed decisions with their benefit plans and have inspired them to take control of their financial future.

Additionally, Rick has authored articles for many local and national industry publications. His thoughts, ideas, successes and pitfalls concerning retirement plan consulting have been presented to plan sponsors, employee benefit professionals and human resource organizations from coast to coast.
