Richard J. Pollard, MD, is a well-versed anesthesiologist and neurosurgical anesthesiologist with the Department of Anesthesiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Pollard is the Director of the Neurosurgical Anesthesia Fellowship. His practice affiliation includes Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) at BIDMC. Prior to his current endeavors, he served as Director of Anesthesia Research for MEDNAX National Medical Group (2016-2017) and Chief of Neurosurgical anesthesia at American Anesthesiology of the Southeast in Charlotte, North Carolina (1996-2017). Dr. Pollard has an impressive professional journey that spans twenty-two years, and his areas of expertise cover all facets of anesthesiology and neurosurgical anesthesia. As a neurosurgical anesthesiologist, he provides anesthetic care for patients undergoing surgery for a variety of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system. Furthermore, Dr. Pollard had staff memberships at Carolinas HealthCare System and was an adjunct clinical professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina (2013-2017). Dr. Pollard is currently a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School.
