Richard Marshall

Associate Professor

Biography

-

Richard’s interest in urban redevelopment and design started at an early age. In high school, he was fascinated with the idea that, from your imagination, you could create entire cities and buildings. Plus, he had excellent drawing skills. After architecture school, his first job was working on a large-scale urban design master plan. From that moment on, he was hooked. Driven by his curiosity, he began to study the inner workings of large-scale urban developments, exploring the politics and economics behind them.

Over the course of his career, Richard has worked in many capacities all over the world—from overlay architecture for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, to detailing skyscrapers in Singapore, to teaching Urban Design at Harvard University.

Today, Richard and his wife call The City of Angels home. He enjoys cycling, collecting vinyl records, and learning as much about cities as he can.
